Surface Enhanced Baman Scattering (sers) of Macromolecules on Colloidal Silver
نویسنده
چکیده
The remarkable enhancement of Raman signals from molecules on roughened silver surfaces or on silver colloids has made it possible to obtain vibrational spectra with only monolayer and submonolayer coverage. This communication discusses the physical notions underlying this phenomenon and then surveys the as yet limited applications to macromolecules.

Raman Study of the Photochemistry of Maleic Acid Adsorbed on the Surface of Colloidal Silver
The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectra of maleic (cis; 2-butaneoic acid) and fumaric (trans; 2-butaneoic acid) acids adsorbed on aqueous silver sol particles are reported. These two acids form two groups of isomers which differ only in the relative positions of the two carboxylate groups. The photochemistry of maleic and fumaric acids adsorbed on the surface of silver colloids...
متن کاملSurface Enhanced Raman Scattering of Crystal Violet with Low Concentrations Using Self-Assembled Silver and Gold-Silver Core-Shell Nanoparticles
The active substrates in surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy were prepared through self-assembly of nanoparticles on functionalized glasses. Colloidal silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were prepared chemically in two different sizes by reduction of AgNO3 using trisodium citrate and sodium borohydride. Gold–silver core–shell nanoparticles were also prepared to compare between the o...
متن کاملAdsorption and Surface-Enhanced Raman of Dyes on Silver and Gold Sols'
Several negatively charged dyes were investigated for their possible adsorption on the surface of silver and gold colloidal particles. Those dyes that were found to adsorb on the particles were then checked for surface enhancement of Raman scattering. Highly efficient surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) was observed from a carbocyanine dye in both sols. Excitation-dependence studies as wel...
متن کاملSurface-enhanced Raman scattering from intracellular and extracellular bacterial locations.
While surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) can increase the Raman cross-section by 4-6 orders of magnitude, for SERS to be effective it is necessary for the analyte to be either chemically bonded or within close proximity to the metal surface used. Therefore most studies investigating the biochemical constituents of microorganisms have introduced an external supply of gold or silver nanopar...
متن کاملStatistics of single-molecule surface enhanced Raman scattering signals: fluctuation analysis with multiple analyte techniques.
The mathematical background, based on a variation of the principal component analysis (PCA) method, is developed for the understanding of fluctuating multiple analyte single-molecule (SM) surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signals; with emphasis on the bianalyte SERS technique developed recently. The method and its significance are presented to provide a systematic framework with which se...
